COMPETITION: Trimdon United Juniors are holding their annual seven-a-side tournament on Sunday. The Rohm Haas Hetton Youth League side will be welcoming 30 teams from across the North-East to Trimdon Community College and they are hoping for a big turn out in support.

The event, sponsored by TARKA, will see keen competitions from Under-11s through to Under-15s sides. And Trimdon chairman Owen Willoughby said: "It's always a good day and we are expecting quite a few people turning out to watch. We are hoping it will be a good day as it always is."

Middlesbrough star Colin Cooper, from Trimdon and a former South-East Durham boys player, will be there to present the trophies. The tournament kicks-off at 10.30am.

TRAINING: Willington Under-18s begin pre-season training on Wednesday, July 17 at Parkside Comprehensive School with new and old players welcome.

The side enjoyed a very successful season last year, winning three of four Cup finals and only losing the other to a golden goal.

SIGNINGS: Billingham Wanderers Over-40s, who won the Sunderland Catholic Club Premier League title last season, hope to make three new signings in time for next season.

Steve Dowling, ex-Marske Utd, Bob Hatfield, ex-Norton, and former Middlesbrough defender Andy McCreesh have all been targeted.

The team have moved to The Merlin in Billingham and renewed their sponsorship with CGS Securities.

Billingham's Gerry Forrest was part of the Southampton side which took part in the televised Masters six-a-side tournament on Sunday at the Newcastle Telewest Arena.
