A WOMAN who woke to find a rapist had crept into her home was subjected to a three-hour sex ordeal.

Leslie Stone, 38, threatened to sexually mutilate her and repeatedly assaulted her while she lay "frozen with fear" in her bedroom.

Newcastle Crown Court heard how Stone said he would kill the woman, tried to break her jaw and attempted to strangle her, during the attack on March 20.

Anne Richardson, prosecuting, told the court: "For the next three hours he held her prisoner in her own bedroom.

"He told her he would like to gouge her eyes out and put them on cocktail sticks.

"He said she would be dead by then and wouldn't feel a thing," said Mrs Richardson.

The court heard that the terrified woman managed to end the terror ordeal after Stone raped her, said sorry and then had a cup of coffee.

She managed to contact her sister and told her to contact the police.

Yesterday, Stone, who suffers from a personality disorder, was jailed for seven years.

After seeking permission from Judge Guy Whitburn, Stone spoke to the court from the dock, knowing his victim was in court to see her attacker jailed.

He said: "I am extremely ashamed. I pray she will find it in herself to forgive me some day if she can."

Stone, of Peterlee, pleaded guilty to rape at an earlier hearing.
