DURHAM'S mayor and the Dean of Durham Cathedral helped mark the launch of the new look Marks and Spencer yesterday.
Over the past six weeks £330,000 has been spent in revamping the store on Silver Street. The colour scheme has changed, the layout has been redesigned and more than 200 lines of new stock added to the store.
The new look was unveiled when the Mayor of Durham Councillor Eileen Rochford and the Dean of Durham Cathedral The Very Reverend John Arnold helped cut the green ribbon.
Today and tomorrow the celebrations will continue and shoppers in the store can watch staff model a range of clothes, take part in food tasting, and enjoy makeovers and flower arranging demonstrations. Tomorrow there will be face painting and people can try out a temporary tattoo.
