A DISABLED woman whose husband has been charged with her murder, died of pneumonia caused by multiple injuries, an inquest heard yesterday.

A post-mortem examination showed that wheelchair-bound Irene Hood, 55, of Lambton Road, Middlesbrough, was also in a state of "general neglect".

Teesside Coroner's Court heard that she was admitted to Middlesbrough General Hospital on April 4, and died on May 14.

Her husband, Kenneth, 56, is awaiting trial for her murder and Deputy Teesside Coroner Gordon Hetherington adjourned the inquest pending the outcome of the case.
