Tributes were paid today to a headteacher at a top Tyneside school who died on Monday.
Dave Coyne, 55, was head of Monkton Junior School, South Shields - named as one of the top performing schools in the country last year - for 24 years..
Deputy headteacher Heather Judd said: "He really loved the children and they thought he was wonderful."
