Readers Durham County League U18s : Crook Town enjoyed an easy nine wickets victory over neighbours Hunwick, who they restricted to 58.

Sean Brown top scored with 25 and in the Crook attack Chris Guy captured four wickets for 22 runs in five overs and left arm spinner Michael Fawcett had two for eight from the three overs he sent down.

Fawcett then top scored with the bat ending unbeaten with 29 and when Tom Prest contributed 25 not out, Crook won conceding one wicket.

Langley Park posted 115 for seven in their derby with Ushaw Moor who were all out with 50. Greg Coates contributed 37 to the Langley Park total and in the Ushaw Moor attack Darren Gill had three for 27 and Craig Wilson two for 16.

Dawdon with three for nine and Jones who three wickets were taken at a cost of two runs, were the bowlers mainly responsible for Ushaw Moor's low score.

Brandon faired even worse when they played Esh Winning and were all out for 38 as Eddie Watson took three wickets for two runs. Esh secured the necessary runs losing one wicket.

Sun Bank U15 National Championship

Burnopfield qualified to meet South Northumberland in the next stage of the Sunbank U15 National championship when they represented the Foster's Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League against the Readers Durham County League representatives Langley Park.

Batting first Langley Park managed 92 from their 20 overs with Danny Wilkinson top scoring with 29 which included one six and five boundaries.

Chris Snowball took two wickets for six runs, Mark Turner had two for 18 and Mark Stoneman two for 17 in the home side's attack.

In reply the result was on a knife edge before Burnopfield edged home with three wickets and just two balls remaining. Mark Stoneman was their match winner with the bat hitting a six and four boundaries in 30 and Marcus Peart contributed a valuable 19 runs. Andy Smith with two for four and Clark two for 20 and Hughes two for 16 all bowled well for Langley Park to keep their side in with a chance until the last over.

Readers Durham County League U15s

Paul Shaw was in excellent form for Esh Winning in the derby against visitors Ushaw Moor. He struck four sixes and 11 boundaries in 76 and Andrew Wilson had two sixes and two fours carrying his bat for 23.

The pair provided most of the runs in the Esh Winning total of 136 for four and for Ushaw Moor Paul Guy took two of the four wickets to fall in 15 runs in five overs, two of which were maidens.

Responding the visitors were indebted to Andy Rafferty who found the boundary line seven times making 51. Paul Young contributed 25 but at stumps the visitors were only 107 for six leaving Esh Winning winners by a margin of 29 runs. Andrew Wilson with two for 16 from four overs was the pick of the Esh attack. Crook Town went down by seven wickets when they hosted Washington. Robinson top scored with 22, but Crook totalled just 75 for seven as Bowes claimed three wickets for 13 runs and Thompson two for 24. In reply Washington conceded three wickets as Lee carried his bat for 20 and Lumsden made 18.

Brandon hurried to a ten wickets victory at home to Willington after restricting the visitors to 69 for nine which included 27 by James Stock. Gary Brown claimed two wickets for two runs in two overs, Joe Dalby also claimed two wickets without conceding a run from the one over he bowled and Jamie Robinson had two for 13 in four overs.

When Brandon went to the wicket they needed eight overs as Ian Myers hit four boundaries in 36 not out and Andrew Johnson carried his bat for 22 with three fours.

Gavin Pattison Cup

Dawdon overtook the target of 112 set by Philadelphia with seven wickets in tact and once again Stephen Gale was among the runs. He contributed 52 and Martin Proud added 20 after Price had led Phili to 111 for six by scoring 31. Michael Appleby was in excellent form with the ball for Dawdon and he claimed three of the six wickets to fall for just 14 runs.

In the derby South Shields had the better of Whitburn by 29 runs. Paul Muchall led the way and the youngster finished undefeated on 84. When Dunn carried his bat for 36 South Shields totalled 149 for the loss of one wicket.

Despite 43 not out by Gilbert and 42 from Robeson, Whitburn were 120 for three when their overs expired.

Friarside Cup

Sacriston lost by 51 runs when they met Whitburn, who realised the formidable total of 160 for the loss of two wickets. Andrew Turns carried his bat for a top scoring 71 and Ross Carty added 37.

Responding Sacriston could only managed 109 for five which included 33 by Martin Hubber and 31 from Craig Burke.

Justsport U15 Trophy

Esh Winning went down by four runs when they entertained South Shields. The visitors batted first and ended with 107 for eight on the board which included a top scoring 31 by scorer Scott Dodds bowled a very good end in the Esh attack claiming five wickets for a meagre 25 runs.

Replying Esh Winning were always in with a chance, but when their overs expired they had made only 103 for nine.

South Hetton romped to 132 and did not concede a wicket when they met Lanchester.

Paul Davison hit one six and five boundaries in an unbeaten 51 and Kyle Bradbury carried his bat for 59 finding the boundary line on seven occasion.

When Lanchester responded they were restricted to 73 for six as Bradbury claimed two wickets for 18.
