MORE than 450 army cadets from Teesside will travel to Shrewsbury next weekend for their annual camp.

The youngsters, from the Cleveland Army Cadet Force (ACF), will get the chance to take part in a range of activities including horse-riding, canoeing, judo, abseiling and shooting during their 13-day stay at Nesscliffe Camp.

Colonel Arthur Charlton, the Commandant of Cleveland ACF, said: "The annual camp is the culmination of a full year's toil in our 26 individual detachments and three companies working towards the pinnacle of the training year.

"We aim to make the camp challenging, exiting and rewarding and I know the cadets are really looking forward to it."

Cleveland ACF is looking for cadets to train for next year's camp which will be held in Otterburn and people - male or female - to train them. No experience is necessary as full training will be given.
