A MAN appeared in court yesterday charged with raping a prostitute and impersonating a police officer.
Michael Walton, 39, of The Green, High Coniscliffe, near Darlington, is accused of attacking the 18-year-old vice girl in Middlesbrough in the early hours of Wednesday, July 24.
He appeared before Teesside Magistrates' Court where he was also charged with obtaining sex from another prostitute by use of false representation, indecent assault and soliciting.
Walton was bailed on condition that he stays out of Middlesbrough, reports to police three times a week and observes an 8pm to 6am curfew.
The case was adjourned until September 10 at Teesside Crown Court.
He will appear before magistrates on the soliciting charge on September 17.
