AN auction of official Middlesbrough Football Club merchandise is included in a charity night for Teesside Hospice.

It has been organised by Mary Ellis in memory of her husband who died recently and who was cared for by the hospice's Macmillan nurses. Tickets for the event at Sammy's Club, Parliament Road, Middlesbrough, on Monday, are available from Teesside Hospice Trading at 410 Linthorpe Road, or pay at the door.

WELCOME DONATION: The Butterwick Children's Hospice wishes to thank the members of the Calor Gas Pension Club for their donation of £100, which was the proceeds from winding up their club.

MUSIC EVENT: The Asda store in Billingham will be holding a music mania event on Saturday in the bandstand in the town centre, from 10am. There will be competitions, karaoke and fancy dress.

FARM FIRE: A small quantity of baled straw and wood was destroyed by fire at Manor Farm, Kirkleatham Lane, Redcar, yesterday. A hose reel jet was used to put out the flames.

WARTIME MEMORIES: Memorabilia including a German helmet, shell cases, medals and written memories from residents are on display in an exhibition which moves from Skelton Library to neighbouring Brotton Library, later this month. Videos and music from the era with maps and paintings showing east Cleveland area as it was, supplied by Stuart McMillan from the Defence of Britain project, are also included.

TOP FUN: More than 1,000 children will take part in the annual play scheme parade through the centre of Middlesbrough tomorrow. The theme of the procession this year is the circus. Councillor Ken Hall, will start the parade from the Bottle of Notes sculpture.
