HUGO Viana has admitted he is still feeling the buzz from making his Premiership debut for Newcastle United.

And the Portuguese wonder-kid has paid a glowing tribute to manager Bobby Robson and the club's supporters.

Viana - an £8.5m buy from Sporting Lison this summer - starred in the Magpies' crushing 4-0 victory over West Ham on Monday night.

The dream debut led to the 19-year-old insisting there is not another stadium in the world that compares to the atmosphere inside St. James' Park when the supporters are in full voice.

"My debut was a magnificent moment that I will never forget," said Viana. "I loved it! He (Robson) was fantastic.

"And no matter where you are, the atmosphere does not have a possible comparison. I had never seen such a thing. It is very impressive.

"I have to say that the fans of Sporting are fantastic but here it is different, whether you play well or badly they'll support you."

The flying winger, regarded as "the best young player in the world", found himself playing left-midfield against the Hammers.

And with Frenchman Laurent Robert ruled out with a back injury the onus is on Viana to build on Monday's impressive performance.

But modest Viana is remaining cautious and he is not expecting to start every game.

"It's still very early to speak about that because we have many important players injured," he said. "Me, I'm looking to work well. I'm not worried.

"I'm 19 and I have a five-year contract with Newcastle, so I'm not rushing to get my place in the team."

Highly-rated Viana looks to have adjusted to life in the English football quickly, despite his tender years and his burgeoning reputation.

And now he is focusing on building on from his good start in front of his adoring Newcastle fans.

"I never thought that it was so fast at Newcastle, although I'm accustomed to this type of situation at Sporting," said Viana, who travels with Newcastle to Manchester City on Saturday.

"I feel very well. I was sufficiently nervous about the first game in the Premiership, especially at home.

"But we had constant support and it ended well for all of us.

"In the second half I was calmer and I played better, also because the ball was passed to me more."

And Viana praised manager Robson and teammate Nolberto Solano, who have both made the Portugal international feel at home.

"Solano has helped me immensely, he is a fantastic person," said Viana, who was instrumental for his country in this summer's European Under-21 Championships in Switzerland, where he helped to destroy England.

"With Bobby I have a funny relationship. He speaks Portuguese to me, which I appreciate. I need to continue my English lessons."
