A CONCERT will be held at the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, next Wednesday, at 7.30pm.

Artists include mezzo-soprano Alison Hudson, bass Graham Danby, of English Opera, baritone Richard Morrison and soprano Valerie Reid. They will perform a selection of arias from popular operas, operettas, a little Gilbert and Sullivan and some North-East ballads. VILLAGE EVENT: The annual flower and vegetable show will be held at Cotherstone Village Hall on Saturday. There will be homemade produce, photography, handicrafts, flower arranging and children's sections. Homemade teas will be on sale from 2.30pm. Awards will be presented at 4pm, followed by an auction of produce.

SUMMER SHOW: Gainford show takes place on Saturday, opening at 2.30pm. There will be afternoon teas, a tombola, raffle, plants and children's entertainment by Ward Allen.

CAT COLLECTION: Spennymoor Cat Rescue raised £136 from a stall at the Teesside Cat Club Show, at Spennymoor Leisure Centre, on Saturday. Margaret Harris, from the charity, said she was delighted by the support. She will have another fundraising stall at the Northern Counties Cat Show, at Maiden Castle, on September 14.

CRAFT DAY: Tow Law Community Centre is offering free craft workshops tomorrow in a variety of crafts and activities, including Durham quilting, cross stitch, tatting, quilling, henna tattoos, decoupage, clippie matting, rug making and picture scanning. They run from 10am to 3pm.

HOSPICE DRAW: Hospice fundraisers are appealing for a raffle winner to claim a prize - a portable colour TV. The Thickley Ward Grand Draw was drawn on Sunday at the Jubilee Fields family fun day, in Shildon. The winning ticket is 12759. COFFEE MORNING: The Catholic Women's Guild is holding a coffee morning at St Luke's Parish Centre, Church Lane, Ferryhill, tomorrow, between 10am and noon. Admission is 50p and will include tea, coffee and biscuits. There will be a cake stall, tombolla and raffle.

ITEMS LOST: A pair of child's glasses and a man's digital wristwatch were found during the Ferryhill fun day, at Mainsforth Sports Complex, on Saturday. Anyone wanting to claim them should contact Ferryhill Town Hall on (01740) 652157.

WHIST DRIVE: A whist drive takes place in the village hall, Helmington Row, near Crook, on Saturday, at 2pm, in aid of St Stephen's Church, Willington.
