Staff from Darlington's Asda store triumphed in the Knockout 2002 tournament at this year's St Teresa's Hospice Family Fun Day.

A team of Asda staff won the morning's Knockout session and Darlington Operatic Society took the honours in the afternoon. Asda staff also won the Gladiator and Boxing tournaments.

Nine teams took part in the Knockout 2002, including a team of Hospice staff and volunteers, and four teams in the Gladiator and Boxing Tournaments.

David Jones, community fundraising manager for St Teresa's Hospice said: "Once again we had a fantastic day which has raised lots of much needed funds for the Hospice. The money is still pouring in so it will be a couple of weeks yet before we know exactly how much has been raised.

"We'd like to thank our sponsors Darlington Operatic Society and also Darlington Rugby Club for donating the venue and all the displays who gave up their valuable time to take part in the Fun Day."
