A YOUNG music fan's dream came true yesterday when she won the chance to meet some of the biggest names in pop.

Stephanie Thompson, 11, jumped up and down so much when she found out she had won the competition that she broke her toe.

The youngster, of Sherburn Road, Durham, will still travel to Tyneside to meet her pop idols before the Music Mania event, which will take place from at 6pm at the Asda superstore, Gateshead, on Sunday.

"She was so excited that she ran to the phone and broke her toe, but she is walking now, so it is still on," said her mother, Beverley Thompson.

Stephanie's VIP treatment for the day includes front-of-house seats for the concert and the chance to meet top acts such as Atomic Kitten, Sugababes, Hear'Say and current UK chart-toppers Blazin Squad.

Stephanie entered a prize draw run by Asda to win the tickets.

Other acts performing at the concert, hosted by Foxy, from the Pepsi Chart Show, include Daniel Beddingfield, A1, and S Club Juniors.

There will also be an appearance by former Big Brother contestant Jonny Regan, a fireman based at Peterlee, County Durham.

Tickets for the event, priced £6, are available from Asda stores across the region. Proceeds will go to Children In Need.
