Heighington still lead the table by just two points from Rockliffe Park and the championship will be decided on the final day of the season.

Heighington were due to play at Rockliffe Park at the weekend but the game was the only one to be cancelled because of the weather in Division A.

Cockerton entertained Middleton St George and it was the visitors who won by an eight wicket margin. Anjit Hussein was in splendid form and he hit an unbeaten 111 from just 41 deliveries as Middleton St George won losing just two wickets.

Batting first, Cockerton realised 168 for four and Dave Lee finished undefeated on 99 while Farrow contributed a valuable 32. Barningham went down by 27 runs at home to Raby Castle who batting first posted 151-3 in just 30 overs. Poole made 69 with one six and ten boundaries before being run out, West had six fours in 37 and Berry 31 before he too was run out.

When Barningham responded they were all out in 8.5 overs for 123 runs. Graham Newton was their top scorer and his 54 included a couple of sixes and six boundaries while for Raby Castle, Kavanagh had six wickets for 48 runs in 14 overs and Ian Dent returned 4-29 in his 6.5 overs spell.

Aldbrough St John had 83 runs to spare visiting Eryholme. When they went to the wicket first Aldbrough totalled 170 for the loss of just two wickets as the runs flowed form Lewis with 68, Priestley, who carried his bat for 46 and opening batsman Wood who made 33 before being run out.

The Eryholme batsmen struggled for runs and Thornton, with 28, was their top scorer out of a total of just 87. Holehouse captured four wickets for just 16 runs and Mathias had figures of 3-37 in the Aldbrough attack.

Witton-le-Wear managed just 96 against Barton for whom Hull took four wickets for just 13 runs and Heddon 2-12 but in reply Barton made just 72-9, leaving Witton-le-Wear winners by a margin of 24 runs. Nelson was in splendid form with the ball for Witton le Wear capturing five wickets for only 14 runs and Jones had equally impressive figures of 4-31.

Ingleton defeated Spennymoor by 117 runs. Batting first, Ingleton ended on 185-7 mainly as the result of the efforts of Laundy (32), Stuart Dawson (42) and Wood (61). Replying Spennymoor were back in the Pavilion with only 78 runs on the board as man of the match Laundy captured five wickets for just 22 runs and Osbourne took 3-20.

At the bottom end of the table, Eryholme look certain for relegation to the B Division, it's then between Aldbrough St John, Witton le Wear or Spennymoor who joins them in Division B next season.

Champions Haughton lost for the third time in their Division B game at Brompton on Swale who won comfortably by a seven wicket margin. Raw, with 4-24 was the best bowler in the Brompton attack but Waddell and McGough gave valuable support with two wickets apiece and Haughton were all out for just 61.

McGough then led Brompton's reply and his 38 was invaluable out of a total of 67-3.

Middleton Tyas won by 39 runs when they visited Catterick Village who could make only 82-4 as Baxter claimed three wickets for 42 runs. Middleton Tyas posted 111-8 including 49 by Wilson and for Catterick, Swainston took five of the eight wickets to go down for just 56 runs.

King James had just nine runs to spare over Cliffe. Batting first, King James realised 105-8 including 39 by Raw and for Cliffe Carrick bowled well to take five wickets for 39 runs.

When they responded, Cliffe were dismissed for 96 of which Rutherford scored 34 and Hitcliffe 34. Oughton had the splendid figures of 5-49 and Brack claimed 4-43 in the King James attack.

After being bowled out for 117 of which Watson contributed 37 and Skidmore 25, Middleton in Teesdale lost by six wickets to Lands for whom Little claimed 5-48. Elstob gave the Lambs innings a good send off with 32 and Tookay batting at number three, added 30 before Dalton carried his bat for 24 and Elstob finished unbeaten with 18.

With Haughton winning the championship, Cliffe are favourites to clinch the runners up spot and promotion to division A.

At the other end of the B division table, it's all down to the last day of the season with any two from four that could still be relegated to division C, the four being, King James, Brompton On Swale, Heighington II or Middleton Tyas.

No play was possible in the games between Dales and East Cowton and Trimdon CCA and Heighington because grounds were unfit.

Rockcliffe Park II, won the C Division Championship and promotion to division B.

The runners up spot which will also gain promotion to division B, is still up for the taking, between Spennithorne & Harmby and Haughton II, with Spennithorne being slight favourites going into the last games of the season. Both teams have to travel to Trimdon,

Spennithorne to Trimdon Colliery and Deaf Hill and Haughton II to Trimdon CCA II.
