A RURAL community will go ahead with an agricultural show despite movement restrictions following the foot-and-mouth epidemic.

Organisers of the Eggleston Agricultural Show, in Teesdale, have warned visitors that this year's event will be smaller than usual.

Officials from the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) are still insisting on movement restrictions for cattle, sheep and goats, which means many local farming shows in the region have been affected.

The show will not feature sheep, cattle or goats, but there will still be a section for horses, and stone-walling demonstrations. The gates will open at 10am today.
