A NEW glass corridor linking a junior and senior school has been opened by conservationist David Bellamy.
Mr Bellamy visited Polam Hall School, in Darlington, to open the link.
The schools were originally linked more than a 100 years ago and the replacement glass corridor was funded by the school's jubilee year appeal.
The appeal was launched a year ago to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee and the school hopes it will fund a total of six projects. Among the proposed schemes are a new library, science labs, a glass conservatory and sports courts.
Mr Bellamy said: "I would like to congratulate the governors, parents, staff and students who have worked so hard to raise the funds for this project.
"The glass corridor is visually impressive and I hope it gets a lot of use for years to come."
Mr Bellamy's visit coincides with the launch of his book, Jolly Green Giant, which goes on sale next week.
