NORTH Yorkshire design-build company Severfield-Reeve Projects has diversified into the housing market.

The company, a subsidiary of Severfield-Rowen, has been responsible for designing and building scores of commercial and industrial properties throughout the North.

However, it is now branching out and has begun marketing its first residential development in the village of Bagby, near Thirsk.

Severfield-Reeve Projects has designed and is now building two five-bedroom detached homes, with landscaped gardens and a one-acre paddock with open fields to the rear.

Managing director Lindsay Ross said: "Entering into the residential sector will not detract from our long-standing work in commercial and industrial property but will complement it and meet demand for high-quality individual homes.

"As a total integrated design build business, we offer true flexibility in our service to customers and how we develop our own enterprise.

"There is growing demand for the type of domestic properties we will design and build and this is a new addition to our product portfolio which is consistent with the skills and experience of our in-house design team.

He said: "As part of a large plc, we have always had the financial strength to invest in prime commercial construction sites and we will now also be doing this with an eye on the housing market.

"Where required, we will work closely with potential home-buyers to help them get the home they want in the same way as we do for customers requiring bespoke commercial premises."

Severfield-Reeve Projects has been a major force behind the development of Thirsk Industrial Park and Dalton Airfield Industrial Estate, near Thirsk.

There, it has designed and built premises for businesses including Milk Marque, Quix Bodyshop, Wagg Foods, Northern Tubes, Talking Picture Cards and Teleware.

The company has also designed and built premises in York for businesses including Britain's largest hotel brand, Best Western, as well as one of York's longest-established engineering businesses, Dowding and Mills.
