A DATE has been set for a public meeting to debate rival projects which could breath new life into Richmond's former railway station.

The building has been empty since the controversial demise of the Richmond Garden and Farm Supply Centre.

Neighbours set up a pressure group to oppose tentative plans which could have seen the property revitalised as a music venue, including a restaurant and a shop selling railway memorabilia.

They feared it could prove to be a thinly-veiled attempt to open a nightclub on the site and feared noise and disturbance.

However, the proposals never made the formal list of bids for the building.

Four other projects will be unveiled at the public meeting at 7pm, at Richmond Town Hall, on Wednesday, October 23.
