Police are searching for three men after they carried out an unprovoked attack on a 24-year-old man.
The assault took place at about 1.30am on Saturday in St Mark's Road, Sunderland.
An old-style Vauxhall Cavalier car pulled up and the three men got out, assaulted the man and then drove off. The victim was taken to Sunderland Royal Hopsital, where he was treated for minor head injuries.
