WORK is to be carried out on the A1 this weekend.
There will be lane closures from 9pm on Friday to noon on Saturday at Blaydon Bridge, near the MetroCentre junction.
The northbound sliproad on to the A1 at the MetroCentre, and the northbound and southbound sliproads at the Swalwell junctions will also be closed.
The Highways Agency is advising drivers to keep to the speed limit, get into the correct lane in good time and to stay a safe distance from the car in front
