BRIDES-TO-BE will be heading for Harrogate this weekend to sample the best of the region's wedding suppliers.

The annual bride's show at the Pavilions complex, on the Great Yorkshire Showground, features a diverse range of exhibitors, including bridal wear designers, stag and hen party organisers, entertainers and wedding planners. There will be more than 140 stalls for those planning their big day. The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, between 10am and 5pm. Tickets cost £6 and are available on the door. BAND CONCERT: Northallerton Silver Band will be giving a concert in the town hall on October 19, at 7.30pm, in aid of the Hospice Homecare support group. Free tickets are available from Somerfield and Safeway, but a collection will be made on the night.

GIFT FAIR: The Easingwold and district branch of the Save the Children Fund is holding its 11th annual gift fair at the Galtres Centre, today, from 10am to 4pm. Admission is £2.

GIVE BLOOD: Blood donor sessions are to be held in the De Grey Rooms, in York's Exhibition Square, on October 22 and 23, between 2pm and 7.30pm.

DEPOT APPROVED: Plans to convert buildings on a Kirkbymoorside industrial estate into a coach depot have been approved by Ryedale councillors. Stephenson's of Easingwold plans to build a depot at Dove Way, Kirby Mills.

ART OFFER: Developers have made an offer for the former York Arts Centre and are expected to submit a planning application within weeks. The centre, in the redundant St John's Church, on Micklegate, has stood empty since it was closed in 1999.York University, which owns the freehold, said it was negotiating with a developer but it is not yet known what is planned.
