DIVISION ONE

Bedale FC 3 BEADS FC 4

A nine goal thriller at Bedale, who would be hoping to keep pace with the leaders but slip down to sixth after this shock defeat. Adam Bramley gave the home side the lead, but visitors BEADS who seem to create loads of chances week after week, got back on level terms when Lee Bowes scored three minutes later. Bramley again gave the home side the lead in the 12th minute and this remained the half-time score. Fifteen minutes into the second half centre back Justin Godfrey made it all square at 2-2, Paul Newham then gave BEADS the lead for the first time ten minutes later, but Bramley with his hat trick goal, and his 8th of the season quickly pulled it back to 3-3, but with just two minutes remaining, Alan Oliver was on the score sheet for the first time to wrap up a welcome second consecutive win of the season.

North Skelton side Hollybush United secured their first win of the season and moved of the bottom of the league, despite going behind to visitors Whitby Town Reserves who took a 9th minute lead through Glen Smith. Richmond Town 2 Fishburn Park 2

Richmond Town were without player/manager Richard Dowson, who was sorely recovering from a hernia operation, we wish him a speedy recovery. They entertained Whitby side Fishburn Park in a very even contest; with Fishburn taking a 6th minute lead through Stuart Marsay, but Richmond deservedly drew level, be it from the penalty spot, Gavin Newall firing home from the spot to level six minutes later. Fishburn who have slipped to a couple unexpected defeats considering their great start to the season, five consecutive wins, took the lead again ten minutes before half time. Marsay on target for the second time in the match. But Richmond again drew level again when Adam Emson was on target fro the first time this season and despite pressing in the second half had to be content with a share of the points after this 2-2 draw.

Stokesley SC 1 Acklam SW 5

Stokesley Sports Club are now the only Club in the first division not to have won a League match, they did win their MacMillan Bowl encounter with second division side Darlington SRM, but only 1-0, and ironically they will meet today's visitors Acklam Steelworks. The visitors got off to a great start when Dean Talukder gave Acklam a 5th minute lead when he chipped the ball over the home side keeper. Talukder then made it 2-0 in the 20th minute giving the home side a mountain to climb, in the very next minute Ray Teasdale made it 3-0, before Talukder grabbed the ball to convert a penalty after James Middleditch was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area a minute before halftime. In the second half Stokesley fought back and a better display saw then battle it out, although the did concede a fifth goal in the 65th minute when last season's Player of the Year Lee Atkinson scored in the 65th minute, but with ten minutes remaining Ricky Farrell scored a consolation goal to make the final score 5-1 and sees Stokesley drop to the bottom of the League.

Thornaby FC 2 Nunthorpe Ath 1

The undisputed match of the day took place at Teasdale Park, where second placed Thornaby entertained League leaders Nunthorpe Athletic, only goal difference separating the teams, although Thornaby do have a game in hand on the teams just below following this game. The match was very even as one would expect, but in the 15th minute a long cross from Gary Wyatt was headed home by Danny Jones, who out jumped the Nunthorpe keeper Chris Mason and defender Andy Southern. Nunthorpe final got back on level terms five minutes before half time, from a hotly disputed penalty after Anthony Roberts was judged to have been brought down by Thornaby keeper Anthony Price, Lee Doughy making no mistake. In the second half the match was very scrappy but with fifteen minutes to go Thornaby got the winner that took them back to the top of the tree, when Jones hooked a shot onto the Nunthorpe bar, and Darren Miller was quickest to react to knock the rebound home for a very important winner.

Thornaby YC 4 Mackinlay Park 0

Not a day for the Redcar side to remember, first they had to switch the match to Thornaby Youth Club, due to Rugby matches, in the kick in before the match started they lost their regular goalkeeper Michael Beech with a dislocated finger, and Martin Gibbons had to deputise. After only twelve minutes Marty Moore gave the Youth Club the lead with a 35-yard dipping shot. Six minutes later a mistake by the Mackinlay Park defenders and goalkeeper resulted in Moore making it 2-0. In the second half the Youth Club pressed again in the 70th minute Burton got on the end of a ball pulled back across the face of goal by Collin Heffron to make it 3-0, Moore then knocked a ball into the back post for Heffron to make it a final score of 4-0.

Dormans took the lead for the first time in the 68th minute when David Bishop scored when left unmarked following a corner. With five minutes remaining the keepers clearance hit the back of a Wanderers defender and dropped to McGowan who slotted home his second of the match to secure the points and move his team into second place.

SMG Redstripes 3 Darlington CB 2

Second division leaders Billingham SMG Redstripes were hoping to increase their lead at the top as Whinney Banks were on cup duty. But visitors Darlington Cleveland Bridge had other ideas and took a 12th minute lead through Lee Hammond, four minutes later Duane Beagle made it 2-0. The home side pressed the visitors back but at the half-time break they still trailed 2-0. Ten minutes into the second half Alex Degiorgis gave the home side hope when he pulled it back to 2-1. Anthony Ptohopoulos then made it all square in the 70th minute, ten minutes later it looked like the Darlington side could hang on for a point or in fact grab a winner when the home side had Paul Brown sent off after two caution, but man of the match Degiorgis popped up with two minutes remaining to grab an unlikely looking winner.

Teesside Arriva 4 Darlington RA R 0

Hartlepool side Teesside Arriva and Darlington visitors Railway Athletic Reserves were very evenly matched for the opening half hour of the match, but then Neil Hay struck with a fine drive that gave Arriva a 35th minute lead. In the second half the home side pressed forward and grabbed a second again through Hay who scrambled home the ball in the 50th minute for his second of the match. The home side were now well on top and it came as no surprise when they added a third in the 78th minute when substitute Kevin Auton raced down the line and squared the ball to Paul Malcolmson who slotted the ball home to make it 3-0. With eight minutes remaining Arriva secured the points when Hay put Auton through with a fine ball and he blasted the ball past the keeper to make it a final score of 4-0.

Teesside Ath 3 Guisb Town Res 1

Redcar side Teesside Athletic were entertaining Guisborough Town Reserves who only a couple of week earlier had clashed in the MacMillan Bowl, the Redcar siding winning 4-0. It was the visitors who opened the scoring in the 15th minute after an opening tight first ten minutes; the ball was lifted over the top with a race for the ball between the home teams defender Chris Jackson or his keeper Matthew Lowe, or the visitors Andrew Davies, Davies won and slotted the ball home for his teams 3rd league goal in six matches, Davies has scored two of them. The home side pressed for the equaliser and were rewarded in the 22nd minute when Alex Hugill cut inside, beat three players before hitting a low drive past the keeper. Sixteen minutes later Jackson played the ball over to Hugill who volleyed his team into the lead. 2-1 the half time score. In the second half the match was very even with the Guisborough side pushing forward in the latter stage of the game leaving themselves exposed at the back and Teesside Athletic broke in the 70th minute with Steve Dotchin grabbing a bit of breathing space and just about clinched the points.
