AN application to build a house in The Dell, Bishop Auckland, was approved by councillors at a recent meeting of Wear Valley District Council's development control committee.
The home will be single-storey on the western side and three storeys on the eastern side, to allow for a steep slope on the site.
Several neighbours objected to the proposal, saying the design was out of character and could affect their privacy.
