Ambulance services across the region are asking people to think twice before dialling 999.
The Tees, East and North Ambulance Service has revealed that over Christmas it received a number of calls from people wanting advice rather than an ambulance, and there are fears this will be repeated over the New Year.
Unnecessary calls can divert attention from genuine medical emergencies.
