A LUNCHEON organiser has received a long service award.
Rose Featherstone retired at Christmas after 23 years as organiser of the weekly luncheon club for the retired residents of Great Ayton.
At a ceremony, the Reverend Paul Peverell, vicar of Great Ayton led the expressions of thanks on behalf of the luncheon club users, the parish council and the community voluntary services.
A community service award from the Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton was presented to Mrs Featherstone.
Peter Sotheran, president of the Rotary Club, said: "This award is almost unique. It is the highest award a club can make of its own accord.
"For 23 years, Mrs Featherstone has devoted her energies to raising funds to subsidise the meals and organising the rotas.
"It gives me great pleasure to recognise her service to the community."
