POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an accident in which a woman was injured when her car was shunted underneath a passing lorry.
The woman, who is in her twenties, was injured when her Peugeot 106 was hit in the rear by a dark coloured Volkswagen Golf TDI, pushing it under the side of a lorry on the A1237 York outer ring road, at the roundabout junction for the A59 Boroughbridge road at Poppleton.
The accident happened at 7.20am on December 23, as the woman waited to pull out on to the roundabout.
The Volkswagen car then drove off without stopping, towards Harrogate. The lorry driver was uninjured,
The Peugeot was extensively damaged and the woman was treated for shock and minor injuries.
Sergeant John Suchomski, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "The Volkswagen will have sustained damage to its front end.
"We would urge anyone who witnessed the accident or can assist in tracing the car that failed to stop and its driver, to contact us immediately."
