RAILWAY history on the North Yorkshire coast is to be marked by a seat.
A seat made from stone, metal and tiles has been unveiled on a former rail line near Runswick Bay. Other schemes are under way elsewhere, as part of the North Yorkshire Moors community rail paths project.
The seat was designed by local children with help from sculptor Vivien Mousdell and iron worker David Stephenson. It depicts scenes from the old railway line that ran along the coast from Whitby.
The bricks came from the York Handmade Brick Company, at Alne.
