POLICE have issued a description of a witness they would like to speak to about an alleged assault in Scarborough that left a man needing hospital treatment.
The incident took place in the early hours of Sunday in the Woodland Ravine area.
A man, bleeding heavily from a head wound, managed to get help by banging on the door of a nearby house and was taken to the Hull Royal Infirmary for specialist treatment.
Part of the area was cordoned off while forensic officers gathered evidence.
A 22-year-old local man has been helping detectives with their inquiries.
However, police would like to speak to a woman who was seen sitting on a bench soon after the incident, at about 5.45am on Sunday.
She was in her 20s, with brown hair cut in a long bob and was wearing dark clothing.
Anyone who can help is asked to contact the inquiry team on (01609) 783131.
