WORK by newspaper cartoonists from the past will go on show in York.
The city's Fairfax House has been loaned a collection of 50 satirical prints, making fun of politicians and other well-known figures from history.
The prints, owned by coroner David Coverdale, will go on show in February in an exhibition planned to run until May, launching a series loosely based around fashion.
The prints include work by satirist James Gillray, which illustrate the elaborate wigs and ostentatious clothing of the 18th Century.
Fairfax House curator, Peter Brown, said: "They did enjoy taking the mickey out of some of the rather strange costumes and wigs people were wearing.
"They liked poking fun at anything extravagant or any member of society who had social pretensions."
