PARENTS are being encouraged to tackle computer learning as a primary school opens its doors to the community.

Stanley Crook Primary School celebrated the launch of its new computer suite just before Christmas.

Now the school is looking to this year by offering to make its 15 computers available for use to the public.

Headteacher Shirley Oswald said that from the start of the new term the school was hoping to encourage both child and parent learning through extensive use of the facility.

She said: "We will be looking at opening the suite up after school for parents to come along and use the facilities.''

The suite cost about £25,000 and was funded through Computers for Schools and the Lifelong Learning Partnership. Interactive whiteboards have also been fitted in the suite.

Mrs Oswald said: "We are working together to provide the best opportunities for our children and we want the parents and the community to come along and find out about this exciting new facility.
