THE county's attractions were highlighted in Manchester at the weekend during a Holiday and Travel Show.

As well as tempting about 80,000 people at the G-Mex centre with leaflets and brochures, Yorkshire Tourist Board also offered a break at the Mallyan Spout Hotel, in Goathland, in a competition.

David Andrews, the board's chief executive, said: "Although we love to hate each other, Yorkshire folk and Lancastrians have a lot more in common than you might think.

"For a start, the landscape and attractions of Yorkshire are very popular with Lancastrians, they love coming here for short breaks, days out and holidays."
