Tony Lee could be in line for a return as Spennymoor manager this week. Lee left the Brewery Field on a point of principle on Thursday and missed Moors' 2-2 draw at North Ferriby.

But Lee is going to hold talks with club owner Benny Mottram this morning, with both parties edging towards a reconciliation.

Mottram, who drove a minibus full of players to Humberside for the game, revealed that Lee had phoned him to wish the team luck and he said: "I want to speak to Tony again, but Jason Ainsley is in charge for the time being."

Lee, who was later given an insight into the game by his son Anthony, said: "Benny and I will be meeting on Monday, possibly, so we'll have to see how it goes.

"I never wanted to go, but felt I had to on principle. I still think we can take the club forward if things can get sorted out."

Ainsley was in charge for Saturday's game, and he was delighted with the players' attitude after they scored twice in the last five minutes to pick up a point. Moors looked as if they would fail to pick up anything until a late revival.

Steve Preen and Andrew Shaw both missed good early chances for Moors, before they fell behind after 27 minutes. Former Middlesbrough defender Nicky Mohan gave the ball away, allowing Gavin Knight to race through and beat Adrian Swan.

The keeper pulled off a couple of good saves to keep Moors in the game, and after half time they thought they had levelled when David Goodchild's header struck a defender and then the inside of the post.

However, Ferriby went 2-0 up when Steve Bell gave a away a penalty just inside the area, and Steve Perrin scored from the spot. The home side were reduced to ten men when Graham Botham was red-carded for his second bookable offence.

They pulled a goal back after 85 minutes when Preen headed in Anthony Lee's inswinging corner, and after two penalty appeals were turned down and sub Tony Woodhouse hit the post, Preen's shot was blocked by the advancing keeper, but Goodchild was on hand to force in the rebound.

Bishop Auckland's home game with Witton Albion was postponed because of a frozen pitch.

Gateshead sprang a big surprise in the Premier Division when they crushed leaders Accrington Stanley 5-1 at the International Stadium.

Accrington took an early lead through Lutel James, but Gateshead hit back to lead 2-1 at the interval with goals by Rob Jones and an own goal. Willie Moat, Michael Dickinson and David Colvin scored further goals in the second half.

Whitby Town also went nap, when they beat Droylsden 5-2 at the Turnbull Ground. Ben Dixon gave them a half time lead, then goals by Stefan Zoll and Aaron Wilford at the start of the second half opened the game up. After Droylsden pulled one back, Zoll and Wilford added further goals.

Blyth lost to a late goal at Colwyn Bay in the FA Trophy.
