A TEENAGER will appear in court today charged with the murder of a North-East man.

The 19-year-old, from the West Lane area of Middlesbrough, where father-of-one Robert Dunne was fatally wounded on Saturday, was arrested on Monday after going to the police following an appeal for information by the Cleveland force.

A 17-year-old and another boy, aged 14, who also presented themselves to police, were still being interviewed last night.

Meanwhile, Mr Dunne's girlfriend, Julie, has asked to be left in peace so she can grieve. His death has left her to raise their nine-month-old son, Liam, at their Connaught Road home, yards away from where the tragedy took place.

A picture, above, was released by the family yesterday - showing, they said, how close 31-year-old scaffolder Mr Dunne was to his son.

They said Mr Dunne would be sadly missed by his many friends in the community, where he was well-known and well-liked.

He was described by friends as a "hard-working family man who doted on his young son".

Mr Dunne died shortly after arriving at Middlesbrough General Hospital following an incident outside the post office in West Lane, at 2.45pm on Saturday.

The hospital has launched an investigation after Mr Dunne's family were told he had been discharged when he had actually died.

Staff at the hospital have apologised for the mistake.
