AN ultra-sound scanner worth £10,000 has been stolen from a car outside a veterinary surgery.

The equipment was taken from a car outside the Green Street surgery, in Darlington, at about 10pm on Sunday.

A vet and nurse had been called to the surgery to perform an emergency operation and were treating an animal when the theft occurred.

Officials at the surgery are offering a £200 reward for the return of the equipment which is used to carry out essential checks on pregnant animals.
