A COUNCIL has improved its procedures for removing abandoned cars as a result of a dramatic increase in dumped vehicles.
In conjunction with the police and the DVLA, Easington District Council is carrying out patrols to seize untaxed cars.
So far, 200 have been removed from the area, which tops a fire service league table for abandoned cars set alight.
