MOST people on the lookout for a pet walk straight past Ben.
"He is not the prettiest chap in the world, but his personality makes up for it,'' said Pauline Wilson, a volunteer with the National Animal Sanctuary Support league.
"We get some dogs that are really bright and he is one of those dogs.
"He loves to go for a walk and when called comes straight back. He would make someone a fantastic pet.''
Ben is being looked after by Hilary Brown, of Yarm.
She said: "He is so responsive - such a quick learner - but perhaps he keeps being passed over because he does not look as cuddly as the others," she said.
