A BUSINESS centre which it is hoped will regenerate a former coalfield community has been opened.

The Glover Networkcentre, in Washington, Tyne and Wear, was opened by the Mayor of Sunderland, Councillor Peter Gibson.

It was established by Networkspace, a joint venture between Langtree Group PLC and English Partnerships, and will accommodate new and expanding companies on flexible lease terms.

Two firms, Commercial Plant and Filter and The Bathroom Suite by R Holmes, have announced they are to move in.

The Glover Networkcentre is one of ten completed developments throughout the country.

Michael Guthrie, director of Commercial Plant and Filter, which distributes piping and filter systems for swimming pools, said: "The Glover Networkcentre is perfect for us.

"The location and size of the units are ideal, and Networkspace offers flexibility in lease lengths and the financial package.

John Downes, director of Networkspace, said: "Securing two tenants before our official opening is great news for us. It demonstrates that Glover Networkcentre will be a magnet for local businesses."
