ANCIENT Japanese pottery will be reflected in a venue's latest glass exhibition.

International glass artist Delores Taylor will display new works in pate de verre, a technique that produces lacy edges, at Sunderland's National Glass Centre, from Wednesday to March 30.

Pate de verre uses small particles of glass the size of sugar crystals, placed into custom moulds, then heated in a kiln to form sculptures, and Ms Taylor uses it to depict the ambiguities in life.

Her work reflects both the classic shapes of ancient Japanese pottery and contemporary sculptures.

She said: "My husband Paul is British and I'm American, so we have feet firmly planted on both sides of the Atlantic, enjoying the rich cultural diversities and similarities."
