Characters from County Durham's past will be brought to life at the weekend.
Historian Winifred Stokes will talk about some of the firms and personalities she discovered while researching early joint stock companies in the county, when she gives a local history talk at Durham's Clayport Library, on Saturday.
Ms Stokes, a member of Durham County Local History Society, has been researching aspects of mining and railway history in the Billy Row area. Some of her work will be included in a series of potted biographies produced by the history society.
The talk starts at 2pm and tickets, costing £2, are available from the library, on 0191-386 4003.
