A NUMBER of schools in Scarborough are searching for governors, despite a recent recruitment drive.

No one has come forward as a result of a recent campaign, said a North Yorkshire education authority spokesman. Schools which need governors include Gladstone Road Infants, East Ayton, Seamer and Irton, Hinderwell, Woodlands, and Filey Infants and Junior schools. James Fairburn, governor support and communication manager for the authority, said that an appeal was now to be made through a local authority newspaper which is being delivered to all households in the borough. "The shortages are not a major problem, but we do want to reduce the number of vacancies," he said.
