A former watermill dating from 1864, which became a landmark pub in the Yorkshire Dales, could soon be turned into apartments - and a nearby property converted into a pub.
The Watermill Inn, Low Wath Road, Pateley Bridge, is the subject of a planning application which will be decided at a Ripon area planning meeting of Harrogate Borough Council.
J & E Beecroft wants to create two residential apartments and five holiday flats on the site, as well as creating a private parking area and a communal garden in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The pub, on the Pateley-Lofthouse road, has a large water-wheel at its eastern gable installed 100 years ago.
At the same meeting tomorrow, councillors will be asked to approve the conversion of adjacent Fosterbeck Cottage into a pub with a bar, kitchen, tap room, games room and lounge.
Planners regard Fosterbeck Cottage as a "suitable replacement" for The Watermill. They are recommending approval of converting both The Watermill and Fosterbeck Cottage.
