Darlington has almost doubled the National Lottery funding it receives, according to new figures.
The town will collect almost £760,000 from the National Lottery Community Fund in the present financial year, compared with just under £400,000 a year in the past.
Eighty per cent of applications for cash have been successful this year, compared with 26 per cent previously.
The grants for community and voluntary projects mean Darlington will receive 33 per cent of Lottery cash awarded to the Tees Valley, and more funding than Middlesbrough and Hartlepool combined.
