A MAN described as of "somewhat limited intelligence" was jailed for two years yesterday for committing indecent acts with two girls.
Lee Lumsden, 22, of The Gardens, Chester-le-Street, was said to have carried out the acts on girls aged under ten on more than one occasion. He denied four charges of indecency with a child, but was convicted by a jury.
Euan Duff, in mitigation, told Durham Crown Court yesterday that a psychiatric report revealed Lumsden, of previous good character, to be "very slow".
Mr Duff described the incidents as "opportunistic" and not carried out by someone with a history of such offending.
Jailing him, Judge Tim Hewitt said given his "somewhat limited intelligence", Lumsden should undergo two further years' supervision on his release from prison.
He also ordered Lumsden to be placed on the sex offenders' register for ten years.
