WARDENS at Guisborough Forest and Walkway want youngsters on their half-term holiday to create a mural for the visitor centre at Pinchinthorpe.

The mural will be created by children from the centre's environmental youth group on Wednesday, February 19, from 1pm to 4pm, and children will produce felt from wool for the mural. It costs £1 to take part and places must be booked. To book, call (01287) 631132.

CARE LECTURE: A visiting professor will give a free public lecture on orthopaedic care when he comes to the University of Teesside next week. Professor Rajan Madhok is the medical director and director for public health for North and North-East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire Health Authority. PLAY ON: Lancashire writer Jim Cartwright's play Two is being performed at the Middlesbrough Theatre this week. North-East actors Rachael Chisholm and Richy Riddell play all the characters in the production, which is centred on a pub. SHORT CUT: Hartlepool Borough Council will meet on Friday to discuss plans to erect bollards on the walkways adjacent to Eddleston Walk and Eriskay Walk, Hartlepool, to stop vehicles using the walkways as a short-cut. The project will cost £600 and approval is recommended.

LANGBAURGH SINGERS: The Langbaurgh Singers, of Redcar, will perform with organist Charles Knowles and soloists at a concert at Saltburn Methodist Church on Saturday, February 15, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £3.50, £2.50 for concessions, and are available at the door.
