WORK by Derwentside College to bring learning to a wider audience has been recognised.
The centre, based in Consett, County Durham, has won a quality Kitemark for its work to develop non-accredited learning.
The college worked for the Kitemark in partnership with other centres across the county, including Bishop Auckland College, East Durham and Houghall Community College and New College Durham, as well as the Workers' Educational Association and the Waddington Street Centre.
Susan Welsh, Derwentside College's quality manager, accepted the award from Jane Kendrick, director of policy for the County Durham Learning and Skills Council.
She said: "This Kitemark guarantees our learners a quality provision. It is also part of the college's ongoing commitment to widening participation.
"We are delighted to be involved in this partnership, which seeks to provide quality learning to the community.
