A man arrested by police for being drunk and disorderly outside a Darlington pub was given a one-year community rehabilitation order by magistrates yesterday.

Edward Haines, 39, of Woodland Terrace, pleaded guilty to the offence, which happened outside the Green Dragon pub on December 13, at Darlington Magistrates' Court. He also admitted breaching a conditional discharge and failing to surrender to bail. He was ordered to pay £55 prosecution costs.

TOWNSWOMAN'S GUILD: A fun afternoon has been organised by the Darlington and District Townswoman's Guild on Wednesday, February 19, at St Cuthbert's Church Hall, Darlington.

WARRANT ISSUED: Magistrates in Darlington yesterday issued a warrant for the arrest of a woman who failed to attend court. Patricia Hewitt, 18, of Hedley Close, Newton Aycliffe, is accused of stealing clothes from a charity shop, resisting a police officer, breaching a conditional discharge and failing to surrender to custody.

CLUB MEETS: Darlington Flower Club holds its annual meeting on Wednesday, March 5, at 11.30am. It takes place at St Cuthbert's Church Centre. PERFORMING ARTS: Greenfield Community and Arts Centre, in Newton Aycliffe, is to hold a two-day school in the performing arts. CHURCH HISTORY: June Crosby will give a talk on the building of Eastgate Church at the monthly meeting of the Weardale Society at the Methodist Church Hall on Thursday, February 20, at 7.30pm.

ANNUAL MEETING: Sedgefield Twinning Association will hold its annual meeting in Ceddesfeld Hall on Saturday, February 22, at 7.30pm. The meeting will be followed by a buffet supper at £5 a head. The meeting will hear of plans for a proposed visit in October of choirs and a band from German twin town Hamminkeln.
