A MAN who was jailed for the illegal killing of ten goats in a shed yesterday dropped his appeal against a two-month sentence.
Isap Lakha, 67, was ferried from Hull Prison to Teesside Crown Court where his lawyer Musa Patel gave his decision to the Recorder of Middlesbrough, Judge Peter Fox.
Lakha and Michael Hawkswell, 26, were secretly filmed in the barn near Londonderry, North Yorkshire, killing the goats, which had been bought for an Islamic halal ceremony.
Lakha, of Savile Road, Dewsbury, pleaded guilty to charges of cruelty and slaughtering animals without licence last month.
Hawkswell, of Hallgarth, Nunwick, near Ripon, was jailed for four months after he pleaded guilty to allowing another to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal and using an unlicensed slaughterhouse.
