GRANT AID: Springwell Village Hall Toddlers Group and Playschool has received a grant of £1,500 from the Community Chest to provide safety equipment, learning resources, tables and chairs.

CHERNOBYL VISITOR: Staff at Asda ASC2 recently entertained Terri, a Russian boy suffering from the effects of the Chernobyl disaster, with trips, visits and gifts. He hopes to return to Washington this month and enrol at Usworth School.
