A GREAT North Dog Walk has been organised to raise money for several worthy causes.

The event, which is being organised by Barnard Castle Dog Training Club in the grounds of Raby Castle, Staindrop, will raise cash for Teesdale and Weardale Search and Rescue, Border Collie Rescue and its own Barney Bullets flyball team.

The team has qualified for Crufts for the third year in succession and will compete against 15 other teams in knockout rounds, with the finals televised by the BBC early next month.

Meanwhile, it is hoped the walk, a week tomorrow, at 10am, will attract more than 100 dogs and owners, each of whom will walk just under four miles on a route suitable for all ages.

The collective distance will equal that from Barnard Castle to Crufts, which is staged at the NEC, in Birmingham.

Sponsorship forms and information packs are available from Castle Vets and Star Footwear, in Barnard Castle, or by calling (01833) 638584.
