FURNITURE business ScS saw sales over the Christmas period ahead of the same time last year.
The Sunderland company held its annual meeting this week, when chairman Tony McCann updated shareholders.
He said: "Sales and order intake for the first 18 weeks of this financial year is substantially higher than the same period last year."
Like-for-like sales were up three per cent on last year.
Mr McCann added: "Our expansion plans for the remainder of this financial year are to open five to seven stores.
"I remain confident of reporting another successful result for this financial year."
